August, 2015-16 School Year
The 2015-16 school year is just around the corner with the first day of school on Wednesday, August 19th. I am fortunate to be the superintendent in two communities that strongly value public education. Our communities are committed to providing the best resources available to prepare our students for their future. USD223 has ideal communities in which to raise a family and obtain a great education. USD223 has two K-12 schools in the district that both perform very well from an academic standpoint and have shown great success in the athletic arena as well. We are committed to creating and maintaining an environment that ensures engaged learning, effective teaching, and trusting relationships so that all members of the school community reach their highest level of academic achievement. Hanover and Linn Schools believes in success for every child.
The Barnes-Hanover-Linn School District believe effective schools are the result of the collaborative efforts of the Board of Education, administration, teachers, staff, parents and community members. In providing our children with the best education possible, our Board of Education and educational staff show us time and again that they are committed to providing an educational environment for our students that is safe, welcoming, nurturing and challenging. Most importantly, it is an environment worthy of our fine communities and devoted to developing our most precious resource, our children.
USD223’s Mission Statement is “Our primary goal is a cost-effective, high-quality educational program as it pertains to curriculum, personnel, and facilities for all students in that the program meets community needs and standards as is indicative of rural values and standards set forth by the local and educational communities”. In supporting this mission statement, USD223 has a very productive and active school board with the following patrons again representing the district for the 2015-16 school year: Diane Gugenhan (President), Jim Zarybnicky (Vice-President), Joselyn Kearn, and Alan Ohlde. New Board members joining them will be Darren Bott, Toby Bruna, and Scott Zabokrtsky. All community members or district patrons are welcome to attend school board meetings which will meet the second Monday of each month beginning at 7:00pm. All meetings will be held at the Barnes District office except September’s meeting will be at Linn Schools and the October meeting will be at Hanover Schools. These Board members represent your School District so should you have any concerns or questions feel free to contact one of them or any district office personnel.
As superintendent, it is my honor to again lead and guide the district for the 2015-16 school year. My goal is to help provide the very best educational experiences for our children and our future. Please feel free to contact me or the school principal if you have any questions about our schools or the district
Brian Cordel, USD223 Superintendent of Schools
