Forensics is an extracurricular activity beginning in late January that offers students the opportunity to perform and compete at tournaments and festivals in the following areas of speech and drama: informative speaking, persuasive speaking (original oration), extemporaneous speaking, oral interpretation of prose, oral interpretation of poetry, humorous solo acting, serious solo acting, duet acting, improvised duet acting, and one-act play. In addition to tournaments throughout the season, forensics includes league, regional, and state level competition and recognition.
Thespians is a speech and drama organization. To be a member of thespians, a student must either compete in forensics or assist with the school play as a cast member or as a supporting crew member.
High School Play
The play is an opportunity for students to perform on stage or assist behind the scenes in its production. Tryouts for the play roles are help prior to casting, but students may volunteer to be part of the stage crew or assist with other play duties.
