The Principal's Corner
"Be the change you wish to see in the world."
Good day all. It is an exciting time at Linn Public School as we are preparing for the fun that is Thanksgiving. I can say that we definitely have a lot to be thankful for here. I think a great way to start is to thank those who have given of themselves.
My first thank you is to say thank you to Dr. Wurtz who gave an amazing and engaging speech to our fall high school athletes this past week. Her moving words really hit a chord with our students, and it showed them that there is little that a person from a small town can’t accomplish. I loved her quote “Just because you’re from a small town doesn’t mean you have to be small minded.” Thank you Dr. Wurtz.
My next thank you goes to the families of our fall athletes. Not only did they provide us with an amazing meal. The big thing is they so unselfishly gave of their time simply so that we could revel in the accomplishments of their children. Thank you parents for giving us children that are so deserving of praise.
Another thing we must be thankful for is our amazing FFA team. The FFA students finished 2nd in the dairy judging competition that happened at Linn Public School this past Thursday. This was such an amazing showing, as 22 teams were in the competition. Thank you students and Mr. Smith for your hard work.
A huge thank you must go out to Andy Ohlde and Claire Wohler. These men have moved around with their heads on fire the past couple of weeks. We have had so many events at the school that it is at times amazing it is still standing. Not only is it still standing but it is in fact shining. If it wasn’t for the efforts of these men I do not know what we would have done. Thank you Claire and Andy for all you have done and continue to do.
We have a ton of things coming up as well. Next week we will see many Thanksgiving celebrations as we prepare for the holidays. Along with that we will see our Scholar’s Bowl team again go out and look for a strong showing. Also, don’t forget that we will be having winter sports and club pictures on this upcoming Tuesday.
With us approaching Thanksgiving I truly believe that we must look for people to thank. I have lived my life and seen so many small things taken for granted. We live in a place where we get to take basic things like food, water, shelter, safety for granted. The majority of people in this world do not get to enjoy these gifts. We need to take a step back and say thank you not only to those we worship for our gifts, but also we need to thank the individual people who have helped us get to where we are. I am a firm believer that no one gets to where they are by themselves. We need to reflect and look at those who gave us the opportunity to reach our greatness, even if we didn’t realize they were helping us. Then with that, we need to look to be someone who is worth receiving thanks. Go out, find those who are in need, and help them. Be thankful by giving.
It’s a great day to be a Bulldog!
