The Principal's Corner
"Be the change you wish to see in the world."
Hello Washington County! Another week has come and gone and we at Linn Public school are only getting stronger. We have had a ton going on this past week, and we have a lot more coming down the pipe in the coming weeks. Before we know it this cold weather will be behind us and we will be staring at Spring Break.
This past week and weekend the TVL tournament was held in Washington. I want to take a quick moment to thank all of the members of the community who helped out with taking gate, driving kids, and being crazy flexible to allow for this tournament to occur given the difficult weather conditions. The help that was given is just more of the norm for this community, but it isn’t any less appreciated.
I hope everyone got the opportunity to either come in, or check out the videos on Facebook, for the Inventor’s Showcase. The third grade worked incredibly hard, and it was very obvious in such a strong performance. Every student was not only prepared, but they were confident in what they were reading. They did extremely well in showcasing some great and inventive minds with their presentations and displays. Thank you families for your hard work in helping your students get ready. Thank you Mrs. Herrs for pulling this off. The work and stress you underwent for this school is truly worthy of commendation. Finally, thank you third graders for your great work and effort. We at Linn Public School are very proud of you.
We are now coming into Forensics time. Our thespians will be heading to Repulic County this coming weekend. Their talents will be on full display. I know that they will be extremely well prepared, and that they will make our school proud with their talents.
Our Scholar’s Bowl combatants will be heading to Frankfort on Wednesday for the TVL tournament. These students have enjoyed a strong season so far. They have really been putting in the work to make themselves the best they can be, and with Mrs. Fischer at the helm, the students are confident that they will have a strong showing and possibly bring back a title. We are all behind them and wishing them that the odds be ever in their favor.
Another exciting thing going on the school last week and moving into this week has been FCCLA presentations. These students have been presenting about healthy lifestyles to both their peers and the elementary students. It has been awesome to see these kids giving back to the elementary school, which is truly one of our greatest strengths. This week we will have some presentations over fire safety, as well as some presentations for the students of Linn Lutheran.
Well, the past few days has shown us an interesting side of the United States. Showings of protests and patriotism have filled the airwaves and social media feeds. Now, I do not want to weigh in on one side or the other. It is not my place to put my political views on the community. I do want to say that one thing I liked about everything I have seen is that I believe we have a nation that really fights for what it wants. Regardless of what you believe, you have to agree that Americans, when pushed, will fight back with everything they have. As you see all of these showings I ask you to look into yourself and think about what you will have to fight for. Whether it be your family, your home, your job, or your beliefs, I hope you fight. I see the division in this country, but the one thing that gives me hope is that I know we are a nation of fighters, and at some point we will fight as a single nation.
It’s a great day to be a Bulldog!
