“We Challenge, You Succeed”
Our high school Scholars’ Bowl team is headed to State! The team consisting of Claire Ohlde, Kalen Richardson, Evan Bott, Tanner Spence and Eder Martinez finished third at the 1A Regional hosted by Frankfort. The team now gets busy preparing for the state competition this Saturday at Goessel. The group has been participating in practice sessions and meets since early November and are looking forward to finishing the season on a high note. We want to wish them and their coach/sponsor Ms. Rebecca Fischer the best of luck as they try to earn Linn High School their first ever state championship in Scholars’ Bowl.
Our high school cheer squad hosted a Bitty Cheer Clinic on Saturday, February 6th. The cheer sponsor, Mrs. Alejandra Bliss reported a total of 30 plus girls participating in the event. These youngsters will be showing off their skills during the high school basketball games against Troy on February 12th. Come out and support our Bulldogs and our Bitty Cheerleaders!
Our FCCLA Chapter is celebrating National FCCLA Week this week with a variety of things planned for the entire week. One of the biggest events on the calendar is a Red Cross Blood Drive on Thursday, February 11th, starting at 9:30 am. We will keep the back parking lot cleared for the convenience of those donating blood that morning!
Our basketball season continues to work its way towards post season action with only two more home games on the schedule. One of those games is the Friday night as we take on the Trojans of Troy High School. The second of those games is on February 16th when we host the Washington County Tigers. This game will be Parent Appreciation Night with our parents being recognized between the boys and girls varsity games. We finish the regular season with three road games against Wakefield, Frankfort and Washington County. We want to wish our programs the best of luck as we close in on post season play.
Some of our students in grades 1 through 8 are putting in extra time preparing for the 2016 Washington County Spelling Bee which will be hosted by Clifton-Clyde (Clifton) on Saturday, February 13th, starting at 9:00 am. We want to wish our spellers the best of luck as they represent Linn Schools at the bee! We will give complete results in next week’s article.
Parents – Monday, February 15th, is an inservice day so we will have no classes on that date. You might also want to put March 30th down on your calendars as an additional inservice day. Hanover will be hosting the TVL Art Show on that day and the decision has been made to have both staff’s working on school related issues for the entire day.
It is great to be a Bulldog!
