The Principal’s Corner

“We Challenge, You Succeed”

Congratulations to Hunter York, Michelle Richardson and Raven Roberson for competing at the Regional Music solos this past Saturday.   Raven earned a I rating and will compete on Saturday, April 23rd at Baker University in the State Solo contest.  Michelle and Hunter both missed out on I ratings by the narrowest of margins.  All three of these ladies have worked hard on their competition pieces and we want to thank them for the extra time they put in preparing for contest.

Our FBLA students along with their advisor Mr. Keith Spiehs participated in the State FBLA contest on April 4th and 5th.  Congratulations to junior Karsyn Smith for placing 5th in Electronic Career Portfolio at the.  Karsyn also made the finals in Job Interview which means she finished in the top 12 at the event.

Congratulations to our FFA Horse Judging Team for winning district on Wednesday, April 6th.  Individual medalists included Karsyn Smith (1st) and Kamryn Smith (10th) with team members Shelby Ohlde and Kolton Smith also competing.  Evan Bott and Kalen Richardson were participants in Agronomy with results yet to be posted.  Great job everyone!

Congratulations to Hanna Bott, Maggie Bott and Kaitlin Ohlde who qualified for FCCLA Nationals in Illustrated Talk - Senior Division.  They will now travel to San Diego, CA in July to present their project which is titled "The Soundtrack of Our Lives". These three ladies will be doing some fund raising to help offset the cost of this trip.  Stay informed on what they have planned in the future.  Congratulations on a job well done and best of luck in July!

This Thursday and Friday we will be hosting our 9th grade and 7th grade orientation sessions for our students and parents.  We have identified that the transition between elementary school and junior high and from junior high to high school can be both exciting and cause for concern for our students.  Many have questions on what school will be like when they make that change.  The purpose of the sessions are to give our students and parents information that may prove to be helpful as they take this next step.  We also provide time for questions and answers that they may have about the upcoming school year.  Letters of invitation were sent out in the middle of March and we would like to see everyone present for these meetings!

Our 7-12 band will be participating in the State Large Group contest at Beloit on Wednesday, April 13th.  Mrs. Pachta and our musicians have been working hard on their competition pieces and will look to duplicate their I rating from the TVL.  This is always a tough task for the Bulldogs as they compete against schools ranging from 4A to 1A during the contest.  We want to wish them the best of luck as they represent Linn Schools at this event.  Remember – the band will once again be performing their list of patriotic songs at the Memorial Day program at the Linn American Legion.

It is Great to be a Bulldog!
