Camp Learn-A-Lot at Linn Schools
By Andrea Woltje
June 25, 2009
Thirty campers, ranging from 1st to 6th grade, attended Camp Learn-A-Lot at Linn School from June 8th to June 19th. The campers enjoyed the multitude of academic activities that centered around a camping theme. These daily themes included tents, campfires, fishing, and the various animals and insects that might be seen while camping. (Snakes were not allowed at Camp Learn-A-Lot!) The campers rotated between the reading tent, math boat, and writing dock where each camp counselor introduced the daily lesson and activity. A thematic snack followed each lesson for the hungry campers. The last day of Camp Learn-A-Lot was celebrated with a nature scavenger hunt, followed by camping Bingo with prizes for all of the campers. Camping has never been write so much fun!
Special thanks to Lesley Goodrich, M. J. Woltje, and Micala Woltje for assisting with Camp Learn-A-Lot. Thank you to the Joonas family for loaning us their tent and boat. Thank you to Andy and Claire for helping us set up Camp Learn-A-Lot. Also thanks to Larry, Audrey, and JoAnn for transporting the campers in a timely manner.
Continue to "track down" good books this summer!
