A Tribute to Coach Lohse – Jan. 29, 2010

Coach Lohse  has been with us (Hanover High School) since 1995-96.  15 years!  Coach Lohse’s 100th win milestone came during the 1999-2000 year.  His 200th win milestone came in 2005-6 and just 4 years later in 2009-10, on January 29th  when Hanover won over Frankfort in the TVL tournament semi-final game, he arrived at the 300th milestone marker.  His overall record as of the 300th win was 300-79.

Eight times his teams have been the TVL regular season champs.  He has one TVL tournament title to his credit, 4 TVL tourney runner-up titles, 10 Regional Championships or Runner-up, 8 Sub-State Championships, 2 Sub-State Runners-up, 8 State appearances, and 3 STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS which came in 1998, 1999 and 2009!  His teams were State Runner-up in 2000 and 2008, and third place in 2003.  Overall, he has a 15-5 record to his credit at the State Basketball game level.

Coach Lohse’s successful career has been recognized at many levels.  He was named 1A Coach of the year in 98, 99 and 2009.  The Topeka Capitol Journal and the Salina Journal both named him Coach of the Year in 1999.  He was named the KCA (KS Coaches Assoc) coach of the year in 2009 and also the 2009 Midwest Sectional Coach of the Year Award for Boys Basketball.  The Midwest section includes 6 states with those being Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota.

Congratulation to you and good luck to you, your Wildcat Team of 2009-10, and your future teams as you journey to your 400th win at HHS!
