USD 223 SEES ENROLLMENT INCREASE

September twentieth enrollment count day for school districts in Kansas sometimes brings discouraging news of further loss of students as families move away in search of jobs. This can be devastating to small school districts and their communities.
However, the continuing trend of declining enrollment stopped last year: For the second year in row USD 223 enrollment increased. And not by a little, our head count is up 19 students this year. This is just such tremendous news.
The district has been working the last several years to sell our district as one of the best in the state. I hope people are looking at all the great things USD 223 is doing, and that we have been working hard to make Linn and Hanover schools of choice.
Linn received all nineteen students, from 153 to 172. Hanover’s enrollment remained the same as last year at 154 students. When you factor in the partial FTE (full time equivalent) from St. John’s and Linn Lutheran our FTE is 356.8, which is an increase of 13.5.
