Good afternoon,

We are going to make another attempt to have a graduation ceremony in Linn and Hanover. Hanover graduation is scheduled for Sunday, July 12, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. in the high-school gymnasium. Linn graduation is scheduled for Saturday, July 18, 2020, at 9:00 a.m. in the high-school gymnasium.

There are current travel bans from the states of Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, and South Carolina. We are asking that anyone traveling from these states not to attend the ceremony at either venue. Should this change prior to the ceremony, I will send out that information through a social media post. For those of you considering attending either graduation ceremony and coming from any other point, please be mindful of, and abide by, any local health or travel recommendations/restrictions that have been mandated by your local health agencies. Also, we are asking any person that has been on a cruise ship or river cruise this summer not to attend.

USD 223 is strongly encouraging, but not requiring, anyone in attendance to wear a mask. There will be disposable masks available for anyone that does not bring one and wishes to have one during the commencement. Please realize that if a person attending graduation is confirmed positive for Covid-19, everyone in attendance will then have to work with their County Health Agency to determine what steps are required individually.

Both schools will do their best to ensure all visitors abide by established Social Distancing Guidelines. Unfortunately, if there is a large crowd, there will be instances where guests will be in closer proximity to one another than recommended.

If you are showing any symptoms or not feeling well, please stay home.

If you have any concerns about your well-being, please do not attend the ceremony but celebrate with the family before or afterward.

We intend to live broadcast the ceremony for those not in attendance. I will keep you updated on this as we go forward.

If you are in attendance, I look forward to seeing you.

Congratulations to the 2020 graduating seniors of Linn and Hanover Schools! Cross your fingers…..we may actually get this done! This has certainly been one for the books!

Thank you,

John Whetzal
