                                     AES Engineering Scholarship

AES Engineering is pleased to be able to continue offering scholarships to motivate students in the furthering of their education. We are offering a $500 scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by an evaluation of the essays that are submitted. Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. You are not required to be taking engineering courses to be eligible. Students must submit an essay of between 500 and 1000 words in answer to the following question: When you look back on your life in 30 years, what would it take for you to consider your life successful? What relationships or accomplishments will be important on this journey? Deadline for entry is October 05, 2020 and the essay may be submitted to scholarships@aesengineers.com


         The Horatio Alger Association State/National Scholarship

Since 1984, the Horatio Alger Association has awarded nearly $143 million in college scholarships to 20,000 deserving students. The scholarship programs provide financial assistance to students throughout the nation who have financial need and have exhibited integrity and strength of character, as well as perseverance in overcoming adversity. Applicants must exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree (may transfer from a two-year institution) and have a GPA of 2.0. You may access the online forms at www.scholars.horatioalger.org Scholarship deadline is October 26, 2020. I would highly encourage you to apply, as the number of applicants has been somewhat minimal state-wide.

                        The Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarship

The Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. With the 32nd class in 2020, the Foundation has provided over 6,300 Coca-Cola Scholars with more than $72 million in educational support. 150 Coca-Cola Scholars are selected each year to receive this $20,000 scholarship. The Coca-Cola System believes that investing in students who are leaders, both academically and in servitude to others, will result in positive, lasting change and sustainable communities. The Coca-Cola Scholars Program recognizes and celebrates young people across the country who are committed to make the world a better place.                 Fairbury Elks Lodge 1203 Scholarship Offerings

The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants in the 2020 competition. Current high school seniors, or the equivalent, who are citizens of the United States are eligible to apply. Applicants must be citizens of the United States on the date their applications are signed. Male and female students compete separately. Applications will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need.                             The Hagan Scholarship Foundation

The Hagan Scholarship Foundation is an exempt foundation whose sole purpose is to provide scholarships to high achieving students in need of financial assistance in order to attend college. These students will graduate from a public high school located in rural communities having fewer than 50,000 residents. Five hundred more scholarships will be awarded in April, 2021. Hagan Scholars attend 358 colleges and universities across 43 states. The dollar amount of each Hagan Scholarship will vary and can be up to $6,000 each semester for eight semesters. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.75 and ranked in top 20% of graduating class. Application deadline for submission is November 15, 2020. Details may be viewed at www.hsfmo.org

                                            Successories Scholarship

Motivation drives us to succeed--whether it is an internal motivation that keeps us committed to reaching our goals or an external challenge that makes us push forward beyond what we thought possible. Not all people are motivated by the same things, and not all people are motivated to accomplish the same things. Only your motivations are known to you. That is why Successories needs you to tell them, in less than 250 words, what is that X factor that keeps you determined to reach your goals.                                             Rural Voices Youth Contest

“Rural Kansas…Tomorrow’s Possibilities”

The 2020-2021 Rural Voices Youth Contest theme is “Rural Kansas…Tomorrow’s Possibilities.” The NCRPC invites high school seniors in North Central Kansas to prepare an original essay or video based on the contest theme and address the following in their entries:

“Rural Kansas holds many possibilities for the future. How can your community in North Central Kansas overcome challenges and reach its full potential to thrive? What opportunities should be explored to make your community an even better place to live? What is your vision for rural Kansas in 2030?”

For a chance to win $850, candidates must enter an original work based on this theme by preparing an essay or producing a short video. High School seniors in the following counties may participate: Clay, Cloud, Dickinson, Ellsworth, Jewell, Lincoln, Marshall, Mitchell, Ottawa, Republic, Saline, and Washington. In addition to the individual registration for competition, the NCRPC is allowing a team of up to four individuals to work together to complete a video entry.                        Heisman High School Scholarship

The Heisman High School Scholarship program honors the nation’s most accomplished, community-minded high school senior athletes. Applying for the Heisman High School Scholarship is your chance to earn a scholarship toward college, as well as local, state, and national recognition for all that you’ve put into your high school career. If you’ve maintained at least a B average, participate in at least one eligible sport, are a leader in your community and role model at your school, then you’ve got what it takes. 100 scholarships to students ranging from $500 - $5,000 will be awarded.               DAR Good Citizen Scholarship Contest

The DAR Good Citizens program and scholarship contest is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. The program is open to all senior class students. The student selected as the school’s DAR Good Citizen must have the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism to an outstanding degree. This contest requires the supervised writing of an essay, as well as a personal outline consisting of a description of how you have tried to manifest the qualities of a good citizen. Only one senior from our school can be selected for this honor. If you have interest in applying for this opportunity, please let me know no later than November 06, 2020.           The 2021 Prudential Spirit of Community Award

This unique program provides an ideal opportunity to celebrate the spirit of volunteerism. State-level honors include receiving the President’s Volunteer Service Award, an unrestricted award of $1,000, a medallion, and a trip to Washington, D.C. in the spring.                2021 United States Senate Youth Program

The Kansas State Department of Education invites public and private high schools to participate in the United States Senate Youth Program. This program identifies outstanding high school juniors and seniors interested in government, history, and politics. Students must have a desire to serve others in a leadership role, have high academic achievements and high aspirations for college. Each delegate will receive a $10,000 undergraduate college scholarship, subject to scholarship rules. Completed applications are due November 20, 2020.         National Honor Society Scholarship Program

Applications for the 2020-21 NHS Scholarship Program have now opened. All NHS senior members in good standing are eligible to apply. A total of $2 million will be awarded—the highest amount ever in a single year— disbursed among 600 NHS seniors. NHS students are among those considered to make their higher education dreams more affordable. Deadline to submit all portions of the application form is December 01, 2020.                           RUDD Foundation Scholarship

The RUDD Foundation is offering a scholarship opportunity to students who will be attending either Emporia State, Fort Hays State, or Wichita State University. I have enclosed a flyer outlining the scholarship eligibility requirements.                                Jack Kent Cooke Foundation

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s scholarship programs are designed to encourage and support outstanding students who work hard and have financial need. Our scholarships provide financial assistance and academic support to high school, undergraduate, and graduate students. In addition to the monetary award, students join a thriving network of nearly 2,800 Cooke Scholars. This highly competitive scholarship includes up to $40,000 per year to attend a four-year accredited undergraduate school, ability to pursue any area of study, and personal advising about selecting a college and navigating financial aid.              Masonic Lodge Scholarship

The Kansas Masonic Essay Contest has been in existence for 60 years and has awarded more than $300,000 statewide to deserving high school students Each year, the Masonic School Essay Contest donates $12,000 to deserving high school students for their 300-500-word essays. Essays will be judged on originality, research, and the development of the topic. Essays must be submitted to the local lodge on or before November 01, 2020.      Save @ School Scholarship

Sunflower Union Pacific Credit Union offers a $500.00 scholarship to a graduating senior. The determining criterion involves the senior who makes the most deposits during their high school career. In order to gain a “scholarship point,” the deposit must be at least a $5.00 minimum. Please see me for questions and details.

The Acacia Leadership Scholarship is a one-time scholarship awarded to incoming male freshmen at the Manhattan Campus of Kansas State University who display excellence in academics, motivation for personal success, and an interest in studying the principles of leadership. AXA Achievement Scholarship

The AXA Achievement Scholarship provides over $1.4 million in scholarships to young people throughout the nation representing all 50 states, Washington DC and Puerto Rico. Students have the opportunity to receive a $2,500, $10,000 or $25,000 scholarship. Scholarship winners are ethnically and economically diverse, and share the qualities of ambition and drive, determination to set and reach goals, respect for self, family, and community, and the ability to succeed in college. Burger King Scholars Program

Created in memory of BURGER KING® Co-founder James “Jim” W. McLamore, the BURGER KING℠ Scholars program has awarded $35 million in scholarships to more than 33,000 high school students, BK® employees and their families across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico since 2000. In 2018 alone, the Foundation awarded $3.7 million to more than 3,400 students in North America. Scholarship grants range from $1,000 to $50,000 and are intended to help students offset the cost of attending college or post-secondary vocational/technical school. Recipients are selected based on their grade point average (GPA), work experience, extracurricular activities and community service. Application deadline is Dec. 15, 2020. Kansas State University Test-Optional Awards

K-State is offering more scholarship opportunities than ever before! K-State admitted students are automatically reviewed for general university scholarships/awards that take their GPA and ACT/SAT score into consideration. K-State is now offering test-optional awardsthat do not require them to submit their ACT/SAT score. The GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program

Honoring the legacy and character of our nation’s 40th President, the GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program rewards college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with financial assistance to pursue higher education. Each year, the Program selects numerous recipients to receive a $10,000 scholarship renewable for up to an additional three years – up to $40,000 total per recipient. Awards are for undergraduate study and may be used for education-related expenses, including tuition, fees, books, supplies, room, and board. In addition, Scholars are invited to participate in a special awards program and receive ongoing leadership-development support. America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders Scholarship

Every year, Grow Ag Leaders awards more than $500,000 in scholarships to students studying in ag-related fields. In 2021, more than 350 scholarships totaling more than $500,000 will be awarded across the U.S. Agriculture creates nearly 54,000 jobs each year, and almost half of these go unfilled. It’s up to farming communities to remind students that a career in ag is beneficial to both their own personal success stories and our growing population. Grow Ag Leaders asks farmers to endorse high school seniors or college students for a chance to win a $1,500 scholarship to support their higher education studies in ag-related fields. America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders, sponsored by Bayer Fund is offering more than $500,000 in scholarships to high school seniors and college students pursuing an ag-related field of study. Margaret Van Horn Scholarship

Funds for the Margaret Van Horn Scholarship have been allocated by members of the Kansas State Department of Education Association of Educational Office Professionals (KSDE AEOP). The scholarship program is open to current Kansas High School, College, and/or Technical School students. Applicant must intend to continue his/her education in an education or business-related program. Applicant must be enrolled in a minimum of nine semester hours (at least half-time). Enrollment must be in an accredited post-secondary educational facility within the state of Kansas. A scholarship is awarded annually. The amount is based on gifts and funds raised by the association. The amount for this year is $300.00. Use of the scholarship award is intended to offset the cost of tuition, books, class fees, supplies, or other scholastic expenses. Applications must be postmarked by January 14, 2021. Bluestem Electric Cooperative, Inc. Scholarship

The Bluestem Electric Cooperative, Inc. Scholarship provides financial assistance to make it possible for high school graduates with cooperative knowledge, scholastic merit and extra-curricular achievements to continue their education. Eligibility requirements include being a current high school senior whose parents/guardians are members of Bluestem Electric Cooperative, Inc. and who are enrolling in an accredited university or college, including junior, community, and vocational or technical college. Bluestem Electric Cooperative will award six $750 scholarships and four $500 scholarships. The American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program

The American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program exists to develop deeper knowledge and appreciation for the U.S. Constitution among high school students. Since 1938, the program has presented participants with an academic speaking challenge that teaches important leadership qualities, the history of our nation’s laws, the ability to think and speak clearly, and an understanding of the duties, responsibilities, rights and privileges of American citizenship. The District 1 contest application is due by January 30, 2021. I have included a packet of material outlining the purpose and procedure.

The Kansas City Associated Equipment Distributors

The Kansas City Associated Equipment Distributors awards up to four annual scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each ($500 per semester) to up to four full-time students. Both men and women, attending a vocational/technical school, and pursuing a certificate or associates degree in Diesel Mechanics or Heavy Equipment Repair, are eligible to apply. The recipients will be chosen based on their interest in entering one of these fields of study, upon completion of their certificate or associates degree. Selection is based on the individual’s general aptitude and personal traits that are conducive to success in these fields of study. To remain eligible the recipient must be enrolled full-time starting the fall semester of the year in which the scholarship is awarded . Once a student has completed the first year of school, they may reapply for the scholarship for their second year, but must meet all qualifications. Application must be postmarked by February 01, 2021. I have enclosed the application and additional information.

Central Valley Ag Scholarship

The Central Valley Ag Scholarship Program is to assist the further education of students of CVA member-owners and CVA employees interested in pursuing higher education in an agriculturally related field. CVA will offer (16) $1,000 scholarships to students of CVA member-owners and (4) $1,000 scholarships to students of CVA employees. The 2020-2021 CVA Scholarship Program is now open for applications. Kansas Grain and Feed Association Scholarships

The Kansas Grain and Feed Association will award the following scholarships for the

2020-2021 school year on the basis of merit:

  • 1 – $500 Dub and Inez Johnson Memorial Scholarship ($250 each semester)
  • 4 – $1,000 KGFA Scholarships ($500 each semester)
  • 14 – $1,500 KGFA Scholarships ($750 each semester)

Requirements for this scholarship include applicants who are graduating Kansas high-school seniors; are self-starters; maintain excellent academic credentials; are solid school and community citizens; have a strong desire to continue their education; and plan on attending any Kansas 4-year university, community college or vocational technical school. The deadline for this application is 5:00 p.m., March 05, 2021no exceptions will be made. Application and scholarship details may be accessed at

KACRAO Scholarship

The Kansas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (KACRAO) offers scholarships to reward students who have demonstrated quality leadership during their high school years. There are four $500 awards available each academic year, which may be used at KACRAO member institutions. The scholarships will be designated as follows-- one per school type: four-year public, four-year private, community college, and technical college. The awards are not need-based and may be used in conjunction with other awards. To be eligible for consideration for these scholarships, students must be in their senior year at a Kansas high school, have a cumulative seventh semester GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale, and submit an application, which includes uploading a one-page essay, letter of reference, and resume. The deadline to apply for the scholarship is March 15, 2021. The 2021 KACRAO Scholarship information is available for applicants at https://kacrao.memberclicks.net/kacrao-scholarship.

Kansas Crime Stoppers Association Scholarship

The Kansas Crime Stoppers Association is sponsoring a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior of an accredited Kansas high school. The completed application form and required attachments must be received by March 15, 2021. Kansas Junior Golf Scholarship

The Kansas Golf Foundation was formed in 1991. It is the only tax-exempt charitable foundation devoted to golf that operates across the entire state. To promote the future of golf, they give college scholarships to junior golfers. Kansas Junior Golf Scholarships are awarded based on the following criteria: academic record, character, leadership and community service, essay/video, financial need, golf participation, and letters of recommendation. The applicant must be a Kansas high school senior, enrolling as a full-time student in an accredited Kansas college or university for the fall semester, and have participated in high school golf or a recognized junior golf program. The Foundation is giving five $1,500 renewable scholarships. The application deadline is March 26, 2021. For more information and to apply, please visit kansasgolffoundation.org

The Kansas County Clerks' and Election Officials' Association Scholarship

The Kansas County Clerks' and Election Officials' Association awards scholarships annually to Kansas high school seniors and college freshmen and sophomores, provided they carry a minimum 3.0 GPA. The scholarships are for those students who major in Journalism, Political Science, Communications, or Business. This scholarship has been in place for several years and was started by the funds the KCCEOA received from the Associated Press and major news outlets for election night reporting. This scholarship program has awarded hundreds of scholarships to the youth of Kansas over the years and hopes to continue to do so in the years to come. The application deadline is March 31, 2021. You may deliver the application to your County Clerk by the due date or follow mailing instructions. I have enclosed a copy of the application. Blue Valley Tele-Communications Scholarship

Blue Valley Tele-Communications has over $16,000 in scholarship money available to students of parents subscribed to its services. Applicants will be critiqued on personal achievements, community and school involvement, future plans, and financial need. Scholarship applications are available online at https://www.bluevalley.net/giving-back/scholarships I have also enclosed scholarship information and a copy of the application in this folder. Applications deadline is March 13, 2021.

Farmers Cooperative Scholarship

Farmers Cooperative will award up to $15,000 in scholarships to high school graduating seniors, enrolling in college as a full-time student. Scholarships will be awarded in $500 and $1,000 amounts. Preference will be given to students majoring in an agriculture-related field, but all are encouraged to apply.

To be eligible for this scholarship, students must:

  • Be a student of a Farmers Cooperative patron or employee
  • Be a high school senior, graduating in the spring of 2021
  • Enroll in a college as a full-time student following graduation
  • Complete online application fully, including uploading professional head shot and essay


The Farmers Cooperative Scholarship Program is open for applicants. Applications must be submitted by April 1, 2021, and they will notify scholarship recipients by April 16, 2021. The application may be accessed athttps://www.farmersco-operative.com/careers/scholarships/

The Mansfield Family Foundation Scholarship

The Mansfield Family Foundation Scholarship is awarded to persons who graduated from school districts which lay in the borders of Washington County, KS. Although there are no restrictions as to who may qualify to be a recipient of this prestigious scholarship, certain considerations might be given extra attention. Those items include: persons who may not otherwise be able to continue their education; persons who desire to enter some field in the medical profession; or persons who desire to return to Washington County, KS to pursue their occupation or profession after completing their education. Further details are outlined in the application packet which I have enclosed in this folder. Application deadline is prior to April 01, 2021.

The Washington County Saddle Club and Rodeo, Inc. Scholarship

The Washington County Saddle Club and Rodeo, Inc. is offering a scholarship in the amount of $500 to a Spring, 2020 graduating high school senior. The candidate must be attending a two or four-year college majoring in an aspect of agriculture. I have enclosed the scholarship application which has a deadline of April 01, 2021.

The Kansas Board of Regents Student Aid Program

I have enclosed a copy of the listing for the Kansas Board of Regents scholarship/grants. If interested in any of the scholarships, you may apply online at www.kansasregents.org or complete the paper version of 2021-2022 State of Kansas Student Aid Application. I do have the original paper application packet in my office, which outlines the qualifying criteria. Please feel free to look at it. Please submit application materials before the priority deadline of May 01, 2021, as funding is limited.

The Kansas Sons of the American Legion Post 306 Scholarship

The Kansas Sons of the American Legion Post 306 is sponsoring a $500 scholarship. Requirements include the applicant maintaining a scholastically sound academic record and planning on attending an approved Junior College, University, or Trade School located in Kansas or Nebraska. Preference will be given to applicants who are the son, daughter, grandson, or granddaughter of a member of the American Legion or a member of the Sons of the American Legion for the past three consecutive years and preference will also be given to those considering entrance into the military. Applications may be delivered to the Counselor’s office and the deadline is April 02, 2021. Application is enclosed.

Hanover High School Local Scholarships

Enclosed please find the Hanover High School Local Scholarship Application form. This is a universal application that many local scholarships will use to determine recipients. Some of the scholarship donors may require additional attachments of which I will inform you of as they become available. This initial application is enclosed and is due to the Counselor’s office by April ­­­06, 2021.

Gerald G. Ricard Scholarship

It was Gerald Ricard’s goal to provide a scholarship to a motivated student that may not have the means to further their education. For him, any higher learning was important to expand opportunities and enrich one’s life. Any high school student within Marshall and Washington counties pursuing education through college or a trade school with financial need is eligible to apply for this scholarship. An invitation to interview will be extended to finalists. Scholarship amounts to be awarded is approximately up to $4,000 per semester. Funds can be used for tuition and books only. Additional details to be provided to the awardee upon selection. The deadline is April 15, 2021 (April 01, 2021, if mailed). Barnes Lions’ Club Scholarship

For the past several years, the Barnes Lion’s Club has given a scholarship to a student that is connected to the club or does community service in the Barnes area. Beginning this year, the Barnes Lions’ Club is offering two scholarships and students in the Hanover, Linn, and Washington schools will be considered. The club has also decided to require students to fill out a basic application form, which I have included, along with other pertinent information. Application postmark deadline is April 15, 2021.

Hanover High School Alumni Scholarships

The Hanover High School Alumni Association is offering five (5) $750 scholarships to this year’s graduating class. Enclosed please find the application directions. The committee has requested this scholarship is due in my office by Friday, April 23, 2021.

American Legion Auxiliary—Unit 306 Scholarship

The American Legion Auxiliary is sponsoring a scholarship to a high school senior who is planning on attending college or a technical college in the fall of 2018. Please find a copy of the application in this packet. Application deadline is April 06, 2021.

Kallie Tegtmeier Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is sponsored by the Kallie Tegtmeier family in loving memory of her. The family is requesting that you complete the Hanover High School Local Scholarship application, and in addition, submit an essay focusing on this topic:

Life is short.

In essay format, reflect on this commonly used phrase and explain what you have done to make your life count. Please cite specific examples and explain the importance of these examples.

Please do not list your name on this essay. Each essay will be given an ID number so the family scholarship committee may score this component of the application impartially. This application is due to the Counselor’s office by April 23, 2021.
