Parents and Staff,

First, I want to sincerely thank all of you for your patience, support, and willingness to help as we finalize plans for the upcoming school year. As you know, this fall will present some unique challenges that none of us have dealt with, and it will take everyone working together like never before. Our plan is close to completion and we will offer virtual learning to those that are uncomfortable in traditional school. I am hoping to have the document to our Board of Education for review and approval today or tomorrow. Once they are satisfied with the contents, I will post them publicly. I hope to have this out no later than Monday afternoon.

Our plan will follow national, state, and local guidelines to protect our students and staff as much as possible. Please know that the health and safety of our students and staff will continue to remain our top priority while continuing to provide a quality education to our students. There are many topics and scenarios to discuss and go through in finalizing this document. The contents will continuously evolve throughout the year as information and guidelines change from the State Department of Education, the State of Kansas, Washington County, and the CDC.

At this time, we have decided to move our K-12 student start date to Wednesday, August 19, 2020. The Barnes Pre-School start date will also move to Wednesday, August 19, 2020.

I will continue to update you with information as it is finalized.

Thank you,

John Whetzal
