Linn FFA traveled to Jefferson County North yesterday for the Northeast Area Land Judging Contest. We saw quite a bit of improvement from last week. Team - 6th Cade Hiltgen - 23rd Max Welch - 24th Liam Voelker - 35th Jayden Schoenberger - 42nd

GAMEDAY NOTIFICATION

As part of their ecology unit, the Freshmen immersed themselves in our native habit, the tall grass prairie, with the help of the wonderful staff and volunteers at the Konza Prairie Biological Station. This habitat which once covered 170 million acres, has been reduced to less than 4% of its original size, most of which is in our Flint Hills region. While at Konza, students conducted grass surveys in upland and lowland areas in order to learn about native grasses, and specifically examine the effects of water on the prairie. They then took a docent guided hike around Butterfly Hill learning about native plants, animals, limestone, and human impact on the prairie.

Linn FFA was at District Land Judging today at Abilene. Members determined soil texture, measured depth and slope, as well as identifying factors that need maintained in land settings. Max Welch placed 10th in the Greenhand division. Liam Voelker placed 9th in Senior Homesite.
