It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!! The HHS Art Club has joined forces with FBLA to add some holiday spirit to our business district in preparation for our Holidays in Hanover celebration!

As part of HHS FBLA's collaboration with The Farmer's Daughter and The City of Hanover to create a new Hanover Christmas tradition, the HHS Art Club will be working with businesses to help them create festive window displays to showcase their business this holiday season.

Coach Lohse, is our long‑time PE teacher who’s spent years helping students build confidence, teamwork, and healthy habits. From energetic warmups to unforgettable field days, Coach brings enthusiasm, patience, and laughs to each class. Mr. Lohse encourages his students to do their best and have fun! Thank you Coach for teaching our students the importance of physical activity.

Yesterday our Juniors and Seniors traveled to Linn to participate in the REALL Simulation hosted by NEK‑CAP. The REALL (Reality Enrichment And Life Lessons) project is a hands‑on simulation for students in grades 7-12 that challenges them to think critically about how adolescent choices and decisions can have real consequences in adulthood.

Several key concepts are:
-Identify components and sources of income
-Analyze how career choice, education, skills, and economic conditions affect income and goal attainment
-Relate taxes, government transfer payments, and employee benefits to disposable income
-Explain how financial resources affect the choices people make

Students spent the morning applying these ideas — budgeting for utilities, discovering the high cost of daycare (and experiencing the stress of missed pickups), responding to eviction notices when rent wasn’t paid, and even facing simulated jail time for some. The experience offered powerful, practical lessons about financial responsibility and long‑term planning.

A big thank you to NEK‑CAP for this experience and to our volunteers for helping put on the event.
