Tomorrow's JH basketball game @ Linn will start at 4:00 in the old gym. Per KSHSAA rules, no spectators will be allowed. The games will be streamed free, on Linn Bulldogs live youtube channel. The order of the games are : B Girls, B Boys, A Girls, A Boys

There will be an informational meeting at Hanover Public School on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, to discuss, gauge interest in, and answer questions about starting a 3&4-year-old Early Childhood program at the Hanover School beginning the 2021-2022 school year. 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. will be for discussion and Q&A with any interested area daycare providers. At 7:00 p.m., the meeting for any interested parents or patrons will start.

Hanover schools is currently seeking qualified applicants for the following positions: -Assistant Cook - This position would be a 6 am to 1 pm schedule, Monday through Friday. -Route Bus Driver - This would be an AM and PM route, Monday through Friday. There has been a change in schedule for High School Basketball. On December 8th, instead of playing Centralia at home, we will play at Linn. The Centralia game will be played December 22nd, at home.

With KSHSAA's ruling last week that will not allow spectators at winter sporting events, we have decided to change the format of our Winter Concert. We will be recording the concert Dec 10 @ 1:45 - 3:00 pm. Students will be allowed to attend and will be socially distanced/masked. This will give our performers an audience. The recording of the concert will be released on our Facebook page on the concert's original schedule, Dec 10 @ 7:00 pm. Mrs. Sawin will be sending out a letter tomorrow, explaining the schedule for the concert. thanks!

Girls JH basketball plays tonight at Washington. A girls will start at 5:45 followed by B girls. Two spectators per athlete are allowed. Masks are required. Go ‘Cats

If you have not received your tickets to the football game for Saturday, you are first to check your spam folder for emails from GoFan. If there is nothing there send an email to this address: service@gofan.co Let them know you have not received your tickets and they should be able to resend the tickets.

As our state championship football game nears, we would like to offer the remaining tickets to the public. First and foremost we took care of our football players, coaches and their families. Today at 1:00 pm we will post a link to purchase tickets. These tickets are completely digital and will go to your email. We will have roughly 50 tickets available. Thank you for your patience. The KSHSAA Board of Directors met today at 1:00 to decide the path winter sports would take. To summarize: -Basketball games will start on time. -Winter moratorium will be from Dec 23-Jan 3. -No fans from Dec 1-Jan 28.

There will be no JH basketball games tomorrow due to lack of numbers at Linn from quarantine. These games will go back to the original schedule (Jan 7th). Again, tomorrow’s games against Linn will be postponed to their original date of Jan 7th.

Good afternoon, First, let me congratulate our football team and coaching staff for having the opportunity to represent our school and community in another trip to the State Championship game. We are very proud of all of our students for the time and hard work they put in both academically and in extra-curricular activities. Below is a letter sent out by KSHSAA Executive Director Bill Faflick to the administration of all schools participating in next weekend's State Championship games. As per the following letter, there will be limited crowd capacity at Saturday's game. Once this attendance capacity and the game protocols have been finalized, we will notify you through social media and the school website regarding the number of available tickets and how to purchase them. Tickets will first be made available to the parents of the players. I would not anticipate that information being available before Tuesday of this week. If you do have any question or concerns, please contact me directly so I can address them for you or connect you with someone who can. Although limited capacity may not be what we had hoped for, we are thankful to KSHSAA and the City of Newton for the opportunity that our young men get to participate in the game and represent the Hanover Schools and community. We are making final preparations for your teams to compete this next Saturday in Newton to play for a championship in one of the 8-Player games. In that regard, with a significant amount of criticism being directed to the KSHSAA re necessary fan restrictions, I want you to be aware we have three options, and only three options for this championship Saturday: 1. Play each game in Newton with 500 fans in attendance for each game; 2. Play each game in Newton with no fans in attendance; 3. Cancel the games. At this time, it is not possible nor appropriate to move the games. I have significant concerns that the actions of some may cause our host site to close their facility for our use and not allow the games to be played. This year, and possibly for future years. The current conditions across the state yield community health and safety decisions no one likes, but they are necessary. Again, we congratulate your team and want to see them play, but you should be aware the actions of some may compromise that opportunity for your students. If you can help put perspective on this for your community, it would be helpful. In the attached file (the file is not attached in this post), you will find an effort to rally against the community leaders who allow us to play in their facility. Any such rally is perilous and may end up backfiring. Additionally, as an FYI, the response Mr. Lentz is providing for patrons emailing him to complain follows: Mr/Mrs. XXXX: I am in receipt of your email and concern over the limitations. The city of Newton, along with the High School and the Recreation Department have worked diligently to work through the guidelines of Harvey County each and every week. This is more so during the pandemic we are all facing. The limitation from the KSHSAA is no more than 50% stadium capacity unless a county has a more strict capacity limitation. Early this week the limitation was greater then it turned into fewer fans yesterday. Therefore, the game has a limitation of 500 fans. The KSHSAA will not be moving the 8-player championship games at the last minute. There is a great deal that goes into hosting a state championship football game, even more so during a global pandemic. I know many say they will follow all the requirements placed on them, but social media has proven that so many do not follow the guidelines and limitations. With this being said, congratulations to your school team on the success this season. We are happy to say kids are getting a chance to continue playing the sport of football. Unfortunately, not all fans are given the opportunity to watch the games in person. There are many unfortunates involved with 2020, as hospitals are full, health care workers are struggling and counties have difficult decisions to make. Since this is all about letting kids continue in this sport, we will provide them an opportunity to compete with limited fans, as stated by each Kansas county and host site. All sites have limitations and they vary from site to site, but the maximum attendance is 50% at all sites and less in most. Thank you, Mark Lentz Again, you may be in agreement with the KSHSAA position or maintain the view of your parents, but I certainly hope you recognize the potentially compromising position we are in at this time. *JH BASKETBALL SCHEDULE CHANGE* November 24th - Hanover will host Linn starting at 5:45. This game will replace our Jan 7th game. We scheduled this game to get our JH kids another game in case KSHSAA decided to delay competitions. We will be keeping girls at St. John's that night, and boys will be at High School (next home game will be flipped), to help restrict fan and player movement as much as we can. MASKS WILL BE MANDATORY St. John's - 5:45 - B Team Girls, followed by A Team Girls High School - 5:45 - B Team Boys, followed by A Team Girls

KSHSAA and their Executive Board recently met to discuss Winter Sports protocols. KSHSAA proposed to delay winter sports seasons until January 15th. Schools would still be permitted to practice as normal, but the first competition couldn't be until January 15th. The season would go from 20 games to 13 games, and post season would remain in tact. KSHSAA also proposed not allowing fans through January. This would also be in effect for Junior High sports as well. This week is American Education Week. We have a terrific staff here at Hanover who always puts students first, hold them to high standards, and push them to be the best version of themselves. Thank you to our teachers for all you do and the above and beyond work that you continue to provide our community. Our teachers have met these challenges head on, and have adapted well.
