Our community should be incredibly proud today of the performance that the 7-12 band put together in Beloit. During the trip down we had a student become ill but she was able to hang in and make it through the performance. During the warmup slot (20 minutes) we had a trumpet valve break, we were able to procure one from another student from ThunderRidge, with just enough time to go on stage. The kids received 2's (this is an Excellent rating) from all 3 judges and loads of compliments from other directors, spectators, and other students. Band truly is one activity that takes a family. Be sure to mark your calendar for May 2. Our spring concert is going to be amazing!!

Much anticipated results are in from KSHSSA Regional Music Solo competition yesterday. Ava Sedlacek took both a trumpet solo and a vocal solo to competition. She walked away with an Outstanding (1) rating in her vocal solo and qualified for state festival at the end of the month. Ava also qualified her trumpet solo with a nearly perfect score (Outstanding 1 rating) for state competition. Our music department and school is so proud of all her hard work and dedication to excellence. Congratulations Ava!

TVL Art Show was a hit! We took half as many projects as the competing schools, but received ribbons for over half the pieces we brought! Saying I'm proud of these students is an understatement! We are still a very small program compared to all the surrounding schools, but I'm so excited to help this program grow! Kinsley Jueneman received blue ribbons for her grey scale highland cow and her pencil and acrylic veteran. Keaton Bruna received a red ribbon for his colored pencil tiger eye. Ava Sedlacek received a red ribbon for her string macrame. Hope White received a blue ribbon for her water color cubism inspiration, and red ribbons for her pastel lily and her colored pencil statue of liberty.

There is just under one week left of pre-orders for the annual Hanover FFA Chicken BBQ. This year is pre-order ONLY. FFA members have been instructed to reach out to as many people as possible to make them aware of this change and get their orders. You may either pre-pay to the member you order from or you may pay at the door. If there is someone you know usually orders but isn't on Facebook, please reach out to Miss Johnson or an FFA member so we can get in contact. I understand this change may affect some, but it was made so we can ensure the amount of product purchased for the BBQ meets the demand of customers! We are so excited to serve you on May 7th!

Hanover Juniors and Seniors traveled to Washington to participate in mock interviews in collaboration with Kansas Works and Linn and Washington Schools. Then Hanover students visited the county courthouse where Denae Jueneman, county treasurer, coordinated with other county employees to give these students short presentations on how to register your vehicle, steps to renew your driver’s license, what the register of deeds does. Caroline Scoville talked about how to become involved as an EMT, Paramedic, or in other roles in the EMS system. Diana Svanda helped students who were eligible and interested in registering to vote fill out their applications to be able to vote in this year’s upcoming elections. Judge Cohorst gave a quick elevator speech about his role as magistrate judge. Thank you to everyone who helped make this a very valuable educational experience for all of our students.
