Anna placed 3rd in the 100m earlier in the day as well.

Good luck to all of our state track competitors today. Anna and Gracie will start us off at 3:35 in the 400m prelims. Then they will both compete in 200m prelims at 5:15. Girls 4x400 prelims will run at 5:55. Gracie will triple jump at 6:30. Camron will jump tomorrow morning, and Tessa will throw tomorrow morning. Anna's 100m prelim is tomorrow at 8:30. Great season by the golf team. Everyone shot their career best this season. Congratulations to Brigham who qualified for the state tournament next week in Hesston.
Kindergarten had a great time yesterday even though the rain changed our plans. First the stadium, then to the park for lunch. We even got to play a little before it started raining too hard. The zoo had to be cancelled but we made up for it with ice cream. Thank you Dan for driving and all the parents who went along.
The Regional golf meet scheduled for today has been postponed to tomorrow, May 14 at 11:00.

As we close this teacher appreciation week, I want to take a moment to recognize our teachers at Hanover and Linn Schools for all the hard work, dedication, and care they give to their students, families, and communities! Our teachers at USD 223 are simply amazing at what they do! We are very proud of our schools and their accomplishments which is largely due to the work and dedication of our teachers/staff and family support.
Thank you also to the communities for your support of our schools, teachers and staff! It is only in working together that we can accomplish this tremendous task of educating our youth! Our 2023 state assessment scores and ACT scores are again among the highest in the state and I would expect a 2024 results to be the same!
Congratulations to our seniors on their up coming graduations this Sunday. They are well prepared for post secondary life thanks to their hard work as well as that of our teachers, staff, coaches, families and the support of the respective communities!

The 2024 FFA Chicken BBQ was a success! The FFA wants to extend a huge thank you to the parents who came out to help make our event run smoothly. Thank you to Mark and Jodie Bruna, Chris Bruna, Brian Sinn, Jacob Hynek, Anita and Lloyd Green, and all of the other parents who stopped by to lend a hand when needed.
We also want to thank our community members who supported us last night through purchasing meals and donating to our chapter. This year we started a new system with pre-orders and how we filled orders. There were some hiccups, but you all were patient and gracious with us as we worked through them - we cannot thank you for that enough! We are already planning on improvements for next year. If you have any feedback or suggestions, please send those via email to hjohnson@usd223.org. We sold over 500 meals total and 1150 pieces of chicken. We will see you again next year! Tonight is our annual FFA Chicken BBQ. If you pre-ordered, you may pick-up anytime between 4:30 and 7. We do have a very limited amount of additional meals to be sold on a first come, first serve basis. We can't wait to serve you this evening in the cafeteria!
Come pick up your FFA BBQ and grab some dessert as well. The FBLA National Qualifiers will be hosting a Free Will Bake Sale Fundraiser tomorrow night from 4:30 - 7 in the cafeteria to help defray the costs of their trip to nationals in Orlando this summer.
