Day 2! We headed out early this morning and drove down to Louisville, Kentucky. We visited Churchill Downs and got to take a tour of the racetrack grand stands, then visited the museum and watched a short movie on the history of the race and what race day looks like. We were surprised to hear that Churchill Downs actually hosts over 750 races per year, not just the race on the first Saturday of May. There are also over 1,200 horses that live on the grounds for 9 months of the year.
After lunch we headed over to the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory where we got to take a tour of the factory and see the process of the manufacturing, from start to finish (minus the harvesting of the lumber which happens in Pennsylvania). Following our tour we headed over to the batting cage where students were able to buy 10 pitches and swing with bat replicas that would've been used by legends like Babe Ruth, Hank Arron, and many more. We're ending our day with supper at Texas Roadhouse and a quiet evening before more fun tomorrow!
I'll post more pictures in the comments.

Sophomores and seniors attended a college fair at Valley Heights this morning.

FYI

Day 1 of National FFA convention started with a trip to the FFA shopping mall and megastore. We then took a tour of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway golf course and grounds where students learned about the maintenance, upkeep, and chemistry behind running the speedways golf course as well as the groundskeeping of the course and the speedway grounds. Chevrolet actually rented the speedway for the afternoon to test out their new electric trucks, so we got to watch the test runs along the track as we took our tour. Following that we headed into Lucas Oil Stadium for the opening session of the 97th National FFA convention. We are ending our day with the Megan Moroney and Nate Smith concert at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
We are having a wonderful time in Indy and head to Louisville, KY tomorrow for the day to tour Churchill Downs and the Louisville Slugger museum.
