The first and sixth graders have been paired up for a Bigs and Littles program. Once a month our Bigs and Littles will meet to read books or do a fun activity. Today was our first session. The first graders were so excited to read to their Bigs today. They are already asking when we can meet again!

Today during our plant unit we learned about seed germination. The students made seed germination necklaces in which we put 2 wheat kernels, one soybean seed, and three water orbies in a small bag. We attached this to a yarn and made necklaces. Students will keep these necklaces under their shirts for the next week in order to keep them nice and warm. Through this process, we should observe the seeds germinate. We also put leftover seeds in a warm paper towel and will put it in a window. We learned this is another way we can observe seed germination.
